Late Sunshine Camper Adventure.

Just when we thought that the Summer was over then the weather had a surprise sunny weekend for us in September and we saw our last chance to get some late Summer sunshine by heading on the road in our Van/Camper conversion ‘Cyril’.

We headed to the beautiful Dorset coast and stayed at West Bay and this is what we found……….

Such a lovely place, with some great, small friendly businesses. Cafes, Restaurants, a wonderful Bakery and some great Craft Galleries.

We have had ‘Cyril’ since July and are looking forward to many great adventures in him. It’s a dream come true for the Hubby, who’s always been in love with the idea of being in magical places to photograph sunrises and sunsets (he’s a photography geek!). The main idea is that having a home from home might make trips a little easier for our Daughter. Having a child with Autism can be a barrier to holidays as a form of relaxation. Any form of change can cause a lot of anxiety and we have had our fair share of dramatic refusal to leave accommodation and sensory meltdowns. All the stress surrounding change affects so many aspects of life for those like her and the temptation is to stay put and avoid the issues and challenges that travel creates, but in order to have life experiences and to grow as a person we all need a little push outside our comfort zone. The fallout for the gentle push for someone with AS is that much greater than the average resistant person, but when our Daughter overcomes a challenge and finds something interesting and worthwhile in a new experience or somewhere new the rewards are well worth all the discomfort. Fossils found on Charmouth beach were her reward for enduring the shingle and getting her feet wet.

Cyril is a very handsome Van!

Our lovely dog Molly missed out on this trip sadly, she isn’t up to long walks she’s awaiting an operation next week to have a new hip. Yes, life is a bit challenging, but we roll with what we get here and go with the flow! What else can you do?

We have 2 important Birthdays this week to celebrate, firstly my Mum’s and then our Daughter becomes a teenager and all just before Molly becomes the Bionic Dog!

Here’s our beautiful Molly girl!
