Life in Colours

February 16, 2017
3D Projects· New Baby

16 Feb

This week  it’s half term here and one of the times I feel blessed to have the best of both worlds, my P/T job as an Administrator for a sixth form partnership allows me to be home in school holidays.  The fact that I am P/T means that I also get some time to pursue my creative side as a Stampin’ Up! Demo.

Me and my youngest Olivia went to see the Dreamworks movie Trolls on Tuesday and WOW, I have to admit it was such a good film.  I must confess to being a bit of a Justin Timberlake fan, but his character, Branch was not the show stealer I had expected. The whole movie was heartwarming, colourful and the music was making me dance in my seat much to my Daughters embarrassment! Rainbows and bright, bright colours are such happy colours and Trolls was full of the most bright and vibrant colours and a tonne of glitter!! I have crafted along to the Trolls soundtrack this last few days and even sang along, again much to Olivia’s annoyance  – so when she complains I throw in a few over-exaggerated 80’s dance moves just to get her into a fit of giggles. That’s what parenting is about isn’t it?  -getting your revenge!! 🙂

On the crafting front I have gone slightly retro too with an old technique that I’ve not done for a while  – Paper Piecing!

The idea for using this Stamp Set ‘Moon Baby’ came from watching Brandy at Brandy’s Cards.  Brandy used the technique with plain coloured cardstock and made a lovely card.  It got me thinking that patterned paper might work well with this set.  I need to use my stock of Watermelon Wonder cardstock and DSP as I had not been feeling the love of this oh so bright shade, but have to admit teamed with the ‘A Little Foxy’ patterned paper stack, this looks really cute!

This matching box is a two piece box, the base made of Watermelon Wonder and the lid made of the DSP from the Little Foxy stack and the WWonder spotty paper from the In- Colour DSP 12 x12 stack. The little tag framelit and sentiment come from the Window Shopping Bundle from the Spring/Summer book. (more from this bundle soon!)

Colour is good – we all need a bit more colour in our lives!
