On March 31st was a lovely class, with a mixture of seasoned and slightly newer crafters along with one complete newbie that decided to learn about memory keeping and chose Project Life as a starting point.
I really love it when people that have never crafted before start to put ink to stamps and paper and realise the possibilities. Memories can be recorded in a functional basic format or, they can be celebrated with colour, design and lots of decoration. When I tell these newbies there are no rules then I usually get a quizzical look, but it is so true! Your memories to celebrate and keep in whatever way makes your heart happy.
The card makers of the group, who were in the majority made these 3 cards:
This Male Card features the Hexagons Dynamic Embossing Folder and the Custom Tee Bundle. I also used my old favourite Gorgeous Grunge. Colours Night of Navy and Emerald Envy with some Crumb Cake and So Saffron thrown in for good measure.
The second Card is great for any age and features Bermuda Bay, Old Olive and Pool Party colours, the Balloon Adventures stamp set and the Balloon Bouquet Punch. The patterned paper for the balloons on dimensionals is from the Cupcakes and Carousels Stack. The balloon strings were stamped in Smoky Slate, with the sentiment stamped in Archival Basic Grey. This design was a CASE (Copy And Share Everything) from a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Dena Rekow from the US.
The last Card was a technique that is from way back when and I decided it was about time it had a revival and that’s the baby-wipe technique. So very simple to create this lovely multi-coloured effect and brilliant for solid images or images with textured patterns. I use it a lot for flowers and butterflies. I’ve used it here with the Crazy About You stamp set and the Hello You and Flourish thinlit dies cut out in Basic Black for some drama. The base card colour is Pool Party.
The subtle colour behind the flower was achieved using the Watercolour Pencils from Stampin’ Up! and a blender pen.
The cards designs were well received and we had a lovely get together. There was just one real difference between this night and our other classes at the WADCA venue, there was a Ladies Night taking place in the main hall and on my way to the kitchen to make my lovely ladies their refreshments I bumped into not 1 but 2 Butlers in the Buff. Well for anyone that has never come across this concept just think very toned muscular, tanned and oiled man wearing just a half apron!!!! I was somewhat taken aback and probably a bit pink cheeked if I’m honest, but it was very funny. When I got back to the room we were stamping in and told the girls about my encounter, one of them asked me if the Butlers were particularly good looking to which I had to admit that I didn’t really look at their faces! We did laugh, and a few of my stampers suddenly needed to go off and stretch their legs around the building – as you do when you have sat down stamping for a while if you know what I mean, ha,ha!
