Westbury Residential Classes.

I love meeting up with the residents for our scheduled classes and hopefully they look forward to them as much as I do. Although I love to help them with their creativity and support them where needed, their dexterity varies greatly, most of all I love to hear their stories. We had a new crafter at our last session, she told me that she used to be a teacher and had many wonderful tales to share. These ladies are mostly in their 90’s and are inspirational. They are keen to have a go and when they make these projects they light up! These are the ladies that went through the war, knitted, crochet, sewed, baked and I am so pleased that I can offer them a sense of accomplishment and brighten their day with some paper crafting.

In August’s Class we made Perpetual Calendars.

I loved this project and so did the ladies, these boards were bingo boards with funny slogans, but after adding a rectangle of pretty random spot designer series paper they were transformed. The months and dates were printed on our lovely smooth whisper white card from a download I purchased from Jen Frost I stuck them back to back so that there was less bulk under the clip for the ladies to negotiate. We stamped with one of my absolute favourites, the Beautiful Friendship stamp set, so user friendly this set with the soft multi-tonal images. The ladies did so well with this set.

This month we made some Christmas Cards based on my samples. It was a mixture of new and retired product. They did so well.

Gold Foil Edged Cards, Perfectly Plaid stamp set and Tree punch. and Wrapped in Plaid DSP

We craft from 3 – 4;45pm and it’s become a tradition that at the end of a session we have a chat and the ladies let me know what they might like to make in our next class. So our next class will be a 2020 Calendar. I’ve got to get my thinking cap on.
