The January to June catalogue has so many fabulous samples, some simple, some more complex, but all can be copied as they are or recreated with the original as a jumping off point of inspiration. CASE stands for Copy And Selectively Edit OR Copy And Share Everything. Basically be inspired and give it your own twist if you like?
When my creative powers are having a day off I will often look at my current (and/or old) catalogues for ideas and inspiration. Page 26 of the January to June Mini has a very basic card in So Saffron stamped with the Boughs & Blossoms stamp set and featuring leaves punched from the Bough Punch that is available as a Bundle. I decided to re-create this card but in a different colour combination.
I really liked the loop of ribbon tied into the twine bow, it creates a lovely look with very little bulk. I know the torn edge is a bit like marmite, with some loving the texture and others thinking it looks tatty! My colour combo for this card was Sahara Sand and Soft Suuculent.
TIP: If you don’t have the exact matching ink colour for the soft tone on tone stamping, use Versamark ink this is a shadow ink so will recreate the look of a soft tone on any colour. Versamark is a sticky ink so make sure you give it a little extra drying time.
TIP: I decided to add an extra layer to form a Soft Succulent border and before attaching to my focal piece I die cut several shapes to use up the card that would not be seen and therefore would be wasted. this technique is reffered to as ‘GUTTING’. All the elements I diecut are great to use on other projects.
No-one will ever know this little crafty secret, it’s just between us OK?
A very simple card using a few elements. I would use this card for a variety of occasions and I think it’s simple but elegant. This would make a very suitable sympathy card, with an approprite sentiment and we all know they are very difficult to make at the time we need them. A batch of these without greetings ready for a reason to send a card would be a great idea.
All of the products I’ve used are from Stampin’ Up! and as always are available in my Online Stampin’ Up! Store HERE
