Colour Challenge for Casually Crafting Blog Hop

Casually Crafting Logo

The Casually Crafting Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world, that come together to share our passion for creativity with you. The focus is bringing inspiration featuring projects that are easy to recreate while still packing a powerful creative punch. The projects are made with a few products, making them ideally suited to a beginner or casual crafter. From time-to-time, we may also include a project that is stepped-up for the added wow-factor

This month the team used a colour combo to create our projects, personally I find colour challenges really encourage me to perhaps use colours that I wouldn’t automatically reach for.

Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent & Gold a lovely Combo and perfect for a Christmas Project too.

Instructions:

  • This project started life as one of the Soft Succulent Slimline Envelopes, I think the decorative liner in these envelopes is really too nice to hide away.
  • Next I scored the envelope at 7.5cm from the open flap to create a pouch for a Gift Card. Stick the envelope flap flat to the back of the envelope.
  • I decided to add a ‘Belly Band’ to hide the now visible seam as the rear of the envelope. Using Evening Evergreen card I cut a 1.5cm strip from the width of my portrait A4 sheet.
  • My Designer Paper Painted Christmas was cut at 7.5cm x 9cm and attached to the right of the inside of my project.
  • A piece Basic White cut at 7cm x 9cm was stamped with Soft Succulent Ink using the Pine Branch from the Christmas Season stamp set and attached to the left with a thin strip of Gold Speciality Paper to cover the join.
  • I took another Basic White piece 7cm x 9cm and used the Very Best Trio Punch to punch the corners and make panel that will be added to the Belly Band. I stamped this again with the Pine Branch this time in the Evening Evergreen stamping several times with one inking to give variations in tone.
  • The Pine Cones were stamped in Soft Suede and I stamped off once for the more solid 1st step and then stamped straight on with the 2nd more detailed cone. Quick Tip: This gives a multi tonal image with just one ink colour. I then fussy cut them out.
  • The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso Ink and came from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set.
  • For my other Gold pop I used the dot stamp from Christmas Season I used a folded wet wipe to which I added a dollop of Tombow Glue and diluted a little with a spritz of water. Once it had soaked into the wipe I used it to stamp with my dots in 3 places around my pine needles on the front focal panel. I cleaned my stamp immediately to remove the glue! Using the Gilded Leafing I popped the panel into the tub adding some of this fantastic product onto the sticky dots left on my panel from my stamping. After softly brushing of the excess I was left with a lovely effect.
  • I added my fussy cut pinecones, one flat and one with a Dimensional behind it , and VOILA!

You could also cut a thin strip from the closed end of the envelope to create a long pocket and add something inside, possibly a Christmas Photo or a letter or message. I’m a big fan of the Belly Band, enabling the project to be closed and then the band slipped off to open.
