Using Bird Ballad Suite
At my Cards and Coffee recently we made lovely cards using this gorgeous paper and stamp set. The idea came from the lovely American Demo Meg Loven and I think it’s a great way to use up our lovely papers, that we (I mean me!) tend to hoard.

This type of card is so simple yet effective and although the DSP is not as robust as cardstock the leading edge of the card is formed by a double layer with the 1inch section folded back. After the sentiment labels and the insert are added the card is really sturdy and it’s lovely to see our papers showing off both designs as our papers are double sided.
Checking your orientation when cutting is a must though, ask me how I know!!

The basic construction of this card uses a sheet of 12 x12 double sided patterned paper, cut at 4 inches – so three cards from one sheet of 12 x 12.
Score on the side that you wish to utilise for the front of your card front, by placing into your trimmer/scorer and scorung at 11 inches and folding this 1 inch section to the left to show the design on rear of the patterned paper. Now fold the 11 inch section in half or score at 5.5 inches and fold to make your card base.
Once you have added a few card stock elements on the front and inside of the card base then that will add some rigidity to your card, and your card will fit in a standard envelope.
Give this a try and use up some of your 12 x 12 papers.
