End of SAB today & Monday’s Facebook Live

Stampin’ Up! A Touch of Ink Stamp Set.

This last Monday February 22nd I featured the butterfly from the A Touch Of Ink stamp set. As you may have guessed this was my favourite Sale-a Bration freebie this year.

THERE ARE JUST A FEW HOURS LEFT BEFORE SAB ENDS! PLEASE DON’T MISS OUT!

We reflected on the ways that this stamp set allows a second shadow stamp for each focal image to ‘colour in’ the image. This method of stamping is called ‘two step stamping’ and is great for creating different tones using Stampin’ Up’s ink pads as the pigments are so rich. It’s a great stamp set for those newer stampers that don’t have a lots of products but have some of our gorgeous ink pads.

The shadow stamp is designed to be slightly bigger than the outline image to give a lovely soft watercolour effect and the stamp has some texture etched into the polymer that creates an image that appears less solid and makes the finished result so artistic.

During my live video I showed how I sometimes like to use the small shadow stamp that accompanies the small leaf to colour in my outline images, this works well on all of the outline images in the set. The extreme close up here also shows the etching I mentioned earlier.

For anyone that struggles with having colour outside the lines then this little stamp means that you can turn the stamp and use the pointy end or the more rounded end to fill in the image and still achieve that lovely texture. You can also use multiple colours, very useful for the butterfly image or stamp off and add different strengths of one colour.

I used this techique on the butterfly with Seaside Spray ink. I’m really going to miss this colour and also some of the other 2019 – 2021 In-Colours that will be gone before we know it. But I do look forward to our 5 new colours that arrive at the start of a new Annual Catalogue.

Here’s the finished card inspired by another lovely freebie the Paper Blooms Designer Paper, and my go-to Stitched So Sweetly dies. A little Night of Navy behind the patterned paper and a few Whale of a Time sequins. I really like adding subtle detail in the background using the same ink colour as my base card, here it’s Seaside Spray again, with the outline leaf image. The speckles are also in this set and soften the white panel so well.

In this sample the butterfly was coloured with the shadow stamp using Rococo Rose ink with some Terracotta Tile sponged on the edge of the wings before stamping. Another way to get a great multi-tonal look. The paper’s here are from the True Love monochrome pack in the January to June Catalogue and the sentiment is from the same publication and the Pretty Perennials stamp set.
