Let’s Use Our Excess Stash!
Simple templates for adding patterned paper, also called designer series paper in the crafting world to your cards, mean that you can create lots of simple cards in a short time-frame using up the excess patterned paper you might have been hoarding – My hands are up – GUILTY!!
In my recent Facebook Live I used this method to make 3 cards, inspired by a recent card I created using strips of patterned paper from a paper pack as a backdrop.
The live was built around a retiring paper pack (Dandy Garden) that I hadn’t used nearly enough of, and I grouped the patterns into single colours in Bumble Bee, Misty Moonlight and Mossy Meadow.
The three cards were then created around these template layouts:
- A Three Panel Card.
- An Arrangement of Squares.
- A Selection of Flag Ended Strips (like the original inspiration)
To complement all three cards I chose the Meadow Dies from the Annual Catalogue cut from plain cardstock, creating a silhouette style against the busy patterns. Some Linen Thread and a few Basic Rhinestone Jewels to add a little extra and all done. Simple but elegant.
I’ve added a clip below from my Live on Facebook to show some of the method behind these simple cards. Any patterned paper can work for this, my original card had far more floral colours and so was more front and centre. With the Dandy Garden cards the iconic dies are a stark contrast to the bold single coloured patterns in the papers.
