When you use the catalogue for your inspiration and are pleased with how your ‘CASED’ card looks, then using different stamp sets, colour combos and patterned papers can give you a very different look without all the energy required for thinking up new designs and card layouts.
It’s a really simple way to make a batch of cards at one sitting for many different occasions without feeling bored with the process. Here is a card that I made after my craft session from my last blog post, it’s a very different vibe to the card I created initially, much brighter and more pop than the very subtle Sahara Sand and Soft Succulent version. This time the base card was Flirty Flamingo and there were some vibrant stamped flowers from the Hello Beautiful stamp set, using Bumble Bee, Magenta Madness, Calypso Coral and Just Jade for the leaves. I fussy cut these elements and arranged them, some flat and some with dimensionals at the top left of my white piece.
The torn edge on the white piece on the bottom of my previous version was replaced by a die cut stitched scallop edge from the Penned Flowers Dies, to give a more elegant, neat and feminine look.
It’s a very simple card, but very pretty for a Thank You, Birthday or a just because. This card would be so easy to step up a notch. The coloured card layer could be embossed after stamping with an embossing folder, or it could be replaced with a subtle patterned paper. An extra coloured layer could be added behind the tone on tone card to make it pop more. Gems could add some additional sparkle.
There is no end to the cards that you might make with this very basic layout idea, so many stamp sets lend themselves to using elements in different ways and with a variety of colour combos. Basic Card Making is such great fun, and using very basic card layouts from the catalogues to start off can avoid that headache of ‘where do I start?’.
